Rank and Organization: Sergeant, Company E, 207th Pennsylvania Infantry. Place and Date: At Fort Sedgwick, Va., 2 April 1865. Entered Service At: York, Pennsylvania. Birth: York County, Pa. Date of Issue: March 20, 1917.

Citation:

The color bearer falling, pierced by 7 balls, he immediately sprang forward and grasped the colors, planting them upon the enemy's forts amid a murderous fire of grape, canister, and musketry from the enemy.
