MILITARY SERVICE: General, U.S. Army   (Andrew Jackson's first military service occurred as a 13 year old member of the Continental Army during the American Revolution.)

Andrew Jackson's wife Rachel died after the election but before the Inauguration.  Jackson never remarried and there was no First Lady during his presidency.
