| In the early morning hours
of July 6, 1964, Special Forces Detachment A-726 was attacked at their small outpost at
Nam Dong in the Republic of South Vietnam. Vastly outnumbered, the team fought
valiantly, despite the tragic loss of two members of the small A-Team. Special
Forces Captain Roger Donlon was awarded the Medal of Honor for his own heroism that night,
becoming the first Medal of Honor recipient of the Vietnam war, and paving the way for
many more heroes of America's elite fighting force, the United States Army's Special
Forces. |
